The practical answer
Start with useful service pages, accurate business details and a website that search engines can crawl. The same SEO foundations support Google’s AI features. Then measure relevant visits and enquiries actually received; no file, schema or publishing tool can guarantee visibility.
A search engine needs to discover your page, understand it and decide it is useful for a particular question. A new website does not become visible simply because it is published. Start with one service that you genuinely offer and make its page useful to a customer who has never heard of you.
Do SEO and AEO need different websites?
No. For Google's AI search features, the foundations overlap with ordinary SEO: accessible pages, useful content, clear internal links and a good page experience. AEO means answer engine optimisation; it is often used to describe making information easy to find and answer from. It does not give a website a separate entitlement to appear in an AI answer.
Google's guidance for generative AI search says there is no special AI schema or required AI text file. Other services make their own retrieval and citation decisions. Write a clear answer because it helps your reader, then give the detail that makes the answer useful.
Build one service page around a real decision.
Imagine a homeowner in Penang comparing renovation companies. “Best quality at the best price” gives them little to judge. A useful page would explain the work offered, real coverage, completed projects that can be shown with permission, and the information needed before a quotation.
Scroll sideways if any columns are cut off.
| Customer's question | What the page should provide |
|---|---|
| Do you do my kind of work? | Specific services, property types and any work outside the business's scope. |
| Can I see similar projects? | Approved project photos with the actual brief and scope. Label renders and proposals. |
| Can you work in my area? | Real service coverage and when a visit needs arranging. |
| What affects the quote? | Factors such as dimensions, materials, site conditions and agreed deliverables. |
| What should I send? | Work type, general location and timing; share private plans directly when needed. |
The same approach works for a café menu or a product catalogue: answer the decision in front of the visitor. See our contractor website approach for a fictional design example and a practical project brief.
Check the crawl and indexing basics.
- Open the page without signing in. Essential services, contact details and descriptions should be readable as ordinary text. Images and animation can support them.
- Give each useful page one preferred URL. Use a descriptive title, one clear main heading and a canonical URL that identifies the intended page.
- Link to it. Include important service and guide pages in relevant navigation or related reading. A page hidden from visitors is harder to discover.
- Check indexing instructions. A public service page should not accidentally use noindex or be blocked from crawling. Private records and fictional demos have different purposes.
- Maintain an accurate sitemap. Include canonical pages intended for search. Update modification dates when their content substantially changes.
- Inspect the URL in Search Console. A successful live test or accepted indexing request does not confirm that the page is indexed. Check the reported indexing state separately.
Google's SEO Starter Guide explains these foundations. Its recrawl guidance explains why submitting a request does not guarantee inclusion.
Show who is behind the business.
Make the business name, operator, contact details, actual location or service area and buying process easy to find. Use your own approved project evidence where available. A fictional demo can explain a design, but it cannot establish that a customer achieved a particular result.
The Strategy is operated by Seri Jadi Sdn. Bhd. in Sungai Petani, Kedah. We work online across Malaysia; visits in Kedah and Penang can be discussed by arrangement. We do not claim offices in Kuala Lumpur or Johor. Read our business information and service terms.
Use accurate structured data, with visible content behind it.
Structured data describes a page in a standard format. Organisation details can identify the publisher, while article markup can describe a guide's headline, author and publication dates. These facts should agree with what a visitor can read. Adding markup does not guarantee a rich result, ranking or AI citation.
Do not invent ratings, customers or credentials to fill a schema template. Google's article documentation and structured-data policies explain the relevant requirements.
Track the journey all the way to a received enquiry.
Scroll sideways if any columns are cut off.
| Measure | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Search impressions and queries | Whether pages appear for relevant questions; use Search Console. |
| Search clicks and landing pages | Which results bring people to the site. Check the report's dates. |
| AI-search visibility | Use the available AI performance report in Search Console; other services need separate evidence. |
| WhatsApp link opens | Contact intent, if measured. It does not prove a message was sent. |
| Enquiries and qualified briefs | Messages actually received or forms successfully saved, then checked by the team. |
| Won work and payments | Confirmed business outcomes from your own records; a quote is not cash received. |
If impressions are irrelevant, improve the page's focus. If relevant visitors do not enquire, check proof, scope and the next step. If enquiries rarely become quotes, check qualification and follow-up. Compare meaningful periods and allow for low traffic; a small change in a tiny sample is not proof that a redesign worked.
What should you avoid?
- Dozens of near-identical pages that only swap Malaysian city names.
- Invented reviews, awards, customer stories or local offices.
- Copied articles that add nothing useful for your customers.
- Changing article dates without a real content update.
- Promises of guaranteed Google positions, AI citations or revenue.
Google's spam policies cover scaled content and doorway abuse. A build tool is not the same thing as a quality assessment: inspect the actual website and the information it offers.
Send a brief we can act on.
Share your website address, your most important service, the area you really serve and what a good enquiry looks like. If you already have Search Console, share the relevant report through an appropriate access method rather than sending your password. We can scope website and content improvements from that information; ongoing SEO work is agreed separately.
“We offer [service] in [actual area]. Our main page is [URL]. A useful enquiry includes [details]. Customers often ask [question]. We want help making that journey clearer.”
